Bernard Membe was a Tanzanian politician who has held various positions in government and political parties. He was a member of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party and served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from 2007 to 2015.
Membe was also a Member of Parliament for Mtama constituency from 2000 to 2015. In 2015, he contested the CCM presidential nomination but lost to John Magufuli. After his loss, Membe resigned from the CCM and joined the opposition ACT Wazalendo party, where he contested the presidential election in 2020 but was defeated by the incumbent President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
