Burna Boy Makes History With Four Grammy Nominations

Burna Boy has made history by becoming the most-nominated Nigerian artist in Grammy history. The Afrobeats superstar received four nominations for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be held on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Burna Boy’s nominations include:

  • Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” featuring 21 Savage
  • Best Global Music Album for “I Told Them…”
  • Best Global Music Performance for “Alone”
  • Best African Music Performance for “City Boys”

Burna Boy has now received seven Grammy nominations overall. He won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album in 2021 for his album “Twice as Tall.”

Other Nigerian artists who were nominated for Grammys in 2024 include Davido (three nominations), Ayra Starr, Olamide, Fireboy DML, Asake, Seun Kuti, Ckay, Tyla, Musa Keys, and Seyi Vibes.

Burna Boy’s nominations are a major milestone for Afrobeats music. They demonstrate the growing global popularity of the genre and the increasing recognition of African artists by the Grammy Awards.
