Coco Jones Releases New Song “Here We Go” Being Stuck in a Cycle With an Ex

Tennessee-based artist Coco Jones is back with a brand new track, “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” and it’s all about the struggles of moving on from an ex.

The song opens with Jones lamenting over a familiar situation – seeing her ex’s name on her phone and knowing exactly what kind of trouble it means (uh oh). She sings about wanting to love someone new and finally move on, but her ex keeps finding a way back in, like a tenant who refuses to pay rent (you was rent free in my head).

The pre-chorus gets real about the frustration of mixed signals. Jones questions why things always have to be on her ex’s terms and expresses the desire for a clean break (Why it’s gotta be your way? I want it to be mine). She knows she should ignore her ex’s advances (They told me to ignore it, don’t you think that I’ve tried?), but admitting she’s already tried and failed multiple times (And I’ve tried, and I’ve tried, and I’ve tried).

The chorus is a catchy and relatable lament. Jones sings about knowing her ex never really meant goodbye, and how certain actions, like liking her pictures on social media, signal a return to their old dynamic (Here we go, uh-oh, ah). This cycle of getting back together and breaking up is frustrating, especially considering how much time has passed (Over and over, and over we go / Older and older, and older, but so).

The second verse finds Jones asserting her maturity by refusing to become bitter (Could never be a bitter person ’cause I’m grown). She calls out her ex for inserting himself back into her life and tells him to go away (You always outisde, take your ass back home).

The pre-chorus and chorus return, further emphasizing Jones’s desire to move on and her ex’s confusing behavior.

The bridge is a pleading for maturity. Jones asks why her ex can’t be the “bigger person” and take responsibility for ending the cycle (Better man, why don’t you just be the bigger man? / Why I gotta be the bigger man?). She just wants to be free of the drama, not stuck in the middle trying to mediate a situation that only her ex can resolve (I just wanna be the middle man / Tryna get in between).

Here We Go (Uh Oh)” is a relatable anthem for anyone who has ever struggled to move on from an ex. The catchy tune and honest lyrics are sure to resonate with listeners. Stream below;
