Diamond Platnumz Throws Shade at Rivals with YouTube & Boomplay Stats

Tanzanian Bongo Flava superstar Diamond Platnumz fired shots at his musical competitors through an Instagram Story post. He included two charts showcasing his dominance: one highlighting his position as the most-watched artist on YouTube, and another demonstrating his leadership on Boomplay.

However, Diamond clarified that despite his impressive Boomplay numbers, they only reflect data from seven countries due to Warner Music Group commercially restricting his songs in other markets.

“This is about Boomplay, and for those who don’t know, since I started working with Warner, they commercially restricted my songs on Boomplay. So, they’re only available in seven countries. Those numbers come from only seven countries,” Diamond wrote.

Diamond’s decision to publish these statistics comes just days after fellow artist Ali Kiba claimed to be the most-streamed artist in East Africa. Diamond seized the opportunity to subtly flex his dominance and silence his rivals.

Diamond’s leadership on both YouTube and Boomplay undeniably demonstrates his significant influence in the East African music industry. Despite facing commercial challenges, he remains a top artist with immense demand.
