Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has announced the results for the 2023 Form Four Examination. The results were released on January 25, 2024, by NECTA Executive Secretary Dr. Said Ally Mohamed.
Overall Performance
A total of 484,823 candidates passed the examination, representing 87.65% of the total number of candidates who sat for the examination. This is an increase of 0.87% compared to the 2022 pass rate of 86.78%.
Gender Disparity
Female candidates outperformed male candidates in the 2023 examination. A total of 257,892 female candidates passed the examination, representing 86.17% of the total number of female candidates. This is compared to 226,931 male candidates who passed the examination, representing 89.40% of the total number of male candidates.
Performance by Category
A total of 471,427 school candidates passed the examination, representing 89.36% of the total number of school candidates. This is an increase of 1.57% compared to the 2022 pass rate of 87.79% for school candidates.
The pass rate for private candidates was 52.44%, a decrease of 15.90% compared to the 2022 pass rate of 68.34%.
The 2023 Form Four Examination results show an overall improvement in performance compared to the 2022 results. The increase in the pass rate is attributed to various factors, including government efforts to improve the quality of education and the hard work of students and teachers.
