Moi University Locals Regret Ousting Former VC Laban Ayiro

In a surprising turn of events, a section of Eldoret locals who once opposed the leadership of former Moi University Vice Chancellor Laban Ayiro have now come to express their regret over his ouster. In a video circulating on social media, community leader Richard Tarus offered a formal apology to Ayiro on behalf of the locals, acknowledging him as the most effective leader Moi University had witnessed.

Ayiro’s tenure, spanning from 2015 to 2018, was marked by challenges, including opposition from North Rift leaders who favored their preferred candidate, Prof. Isaac Kosgey. The locals now view Ayiro’s ouster as a mistake and are calling for the removal of the current VC, citing his alleged inability to address the university’s pressing issues. Their disillusionment with the current leadership further highlights Ayiro’s effectiveness in managing the university and safeguarding its reputation.
