No More Despacito? Daddy Yankee Switches Gears to Focus on Faith

Daddy Yankee, the iconic Puerto Rican reggae ton artist, has announced his retirement from music. In a concert in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on December 3, the 46-year-old rapper revealed that he is stepping away from music to focus on his Christian faith.

“My people, today is a very important day in my life,” Yankee said. “And I want to share it with you because living a successful life is not the same as living a purposeful life.”

“I have to admit that the days have gone by, and that’s why tonight, I recognize, and I’m not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for him.”

Yankee is one of the most successful reggaeton artists of all time. He has sold over 30 million records worldwide and has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award and 13 Latin Grammy Awards. His songs, such as “Despacito” and “Gasolina,” have topped the charts around the world.
