Tanzania’s Airports: Now Playing 100% Tanzanian Music

In a move to promote Tanzanian music and culture, the Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) has agreed to play 100% Tanzanian music at all airports in the country.

The agreement was reached in a meeting in Dar es Salaam between the Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts, and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, popularly known as Mwana FA, and TAA Director General Musa Mbura.

Mwana FA, who is also a renowned musician, urged Mbura to ensure that Tanzanian music is played at all hours of the day at all airports. He said this would help to promote Tanzanian culture to visitors arriving and departing from the country.

The meeting also included representatives from various government agencies, including the Director of Arts Development, Dr. Emmanuel Ishengoma, the Executive Secretary of the Tanzania Arts Council (BASATA), Dr. Kedmon Mapana, the Executive Secretary of the Film Board, Dr. Kiago Kilonzo, and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of COSOTA, Baraka Katemba.

“This is a great step forward for Tanzanian music,” said Mwana FA. “It will help to showcase our country’s rich musical heritage to the world.”

TAA has already begun implementing the agreement, and Tanzanian music is now being played at all airports in the country.
