Kenyan President William Ruto has confirmed the death of the country’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Francis Ogolla. General Ogolla passed away today, Thursday, April 18, 2024, after a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crashed in the Sindar area of Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
The cause of the accident is still unknown, and investigations are underway. President Ruto has ordered a full investigation to determine the root of the crash.
General Ogolla was appointed CDF by President Ruto in 2023. He served in the Kenyan military for over 30 years, holding various leadership positions. He was widely regarded as one of Kenya’s finest military officers.
