Business Insider Africa has released a list of the top 10 richest people in Africa as of January 3, 2024. The list is based on the daily changes in the net worth of the continent’s wealthiest individuals.

Johann Rupert & Family of South Africa topped the list with a net worth of $25.83 billion. Rupert is the chairman of Richemont, a luxury goods conglomerate that owns brands such as Cartier, Montblanc, and Dunhill.

Aliko Dangote of Nigeria came in second with a net worth of $23.83 billion. Dangote is the founder and chairman of Dangote Group, a diversified conglomerate that includes interests in cement, sugar, flour, and oil.

Nicky Oppenheimer & Family of South Africa rounded out the top three with a net worth of $20.82 billion. Oppenheimer is the chairman of De Beers, a diamond mining company.
