Yanga Celebrate 89th Anniversary with Thrilling 2-1 Win over Tanzania Prisons

Young Africans (Yanga) marked their 89th birthday with a nail-biting 2-1 victory against Tanzania Prisons in the Tanzanian Premier League match played at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.

Yanga displayed their winning intent early on, grabbing the lead in the 8th minute through Clement Mzize. This score remained unchanged until halftime.

The second half saw Yanga continue their dominance, doubling their lead in the 45th+3 minute courtesy of Pacome Zouzoua.

Tanzania Prisons fought back and pulled one goal back in the 64th minute through Jeremiah Juma, but they were unable to find the equalizer.

This victory takes Yanga to 48 points after 20 games, solidifying their position at the top of the league table.

Yanga coach, Miguel Gamondi, commended his players for the win and expressed his delight at celebrating the club’s anniversary with a victory.

“It’s a very important win for us,” said Gamondi. “We played well and deserved the win. I’m happy to celebrate the club’s 89th birthday with a victory.”

Yanga captain, Mwamnyeto, revealed the players’ desire to win the match as a gift to their fans.

“We understand the importance of this day for our fans,” said Nondo. “We were determined to win this match as a gift to them and we succeeded.”
